Engaging the next generation
Our members told us that access to skills was one of the industry’s biggest issues, so we set up the e-Placement Scotland programme. We’re here to help you find the best placement students for your business, from universities and colleges across Scotland.
Securing the future talent for our industry
At ScotlandIS we remain committed to securing the future talent for our industry. e-Placement Scotland has created over 2,000 placement opportunities to date. Set up in 2010, the programme matches firms in the technology sector with students, and helps to address the skills shortage in the sector and improve student employability.
Our e-Placement Scotland programme, run in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University, has been given a further funding boost by Scottish Funding Council ensuring it runs until at least 2019.
The power of e-Placement
Here are some examples to demonstrate the value of this highly successful programme, with both employers and students alike.
John McGuire at Pulsion
Alexander Grant at RelayMed
e-Placement Scotland helped Alexander improve his employability and provided RelayMed, a small dynamic med-tech start-up with a low-risk way of improving their work and advancing their business objectives.
Ally Weir at SIMUL8
Taking a summer e-Placement had a lasting impact on Ally’s studies and on his employability, helping Ally to build the momentum needed for his final year of studies. SIMUL8 have tried different avenues to find the best talent in the UK and e-Placement Scotland has been their most successful route – a really good way to get talented placement students into the business.
Robbie Binnie at Exterity
e-Placement Scotland helped Exterity though every step of the recruitment process, securing an individual who was an asset to the company from the start. For Robbie the placement enabled him to understand the software development process in practice, as well as growing in confidence.
